Winkler Flyers Head Coach and G.M. Ken Pearson has added three new players to the roster as the team gets ready to host Waywayseecappo on Saturday. Forwards Ryan Tront (93) and Brett Meilleur (94) along with defenseman Patrick Webb (94) were acquired in a series of trades this week.
With a depleted line-up due to a number of injuries and player moves, the Winkler Flyers are back to a nearly full roster with the three new additions.
Tront was picked up in a trade with the Portage Terriers with the Flyers sending future considerations the other way. The 5’10’, 170lbs Thunder Bay, Ontario native scored one goal in six games played with the Terriers this season. Tront had 25 points (8 goals – 17 assists) in 47 games played with the Duluth Clydesdales of the SIJHL during the 2011-2012 season. He is a skilled and speedy forward who can play either centre or wing and will be a great addition to the Flyers line-up.
Meilleur comes to the Flyers after playing last season with the Interlake Lightning of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. During the 2011-2012 season the Balmoral, Manitoba product had 24 points (6 goals – 18 assists) and 85 penalty minutes in 43 games played. Meilleur, who stands 5’10’ and weighs 190lbs is a gritty, in your face forward who will be very tough to play against.
And finally, Patrick Webb was picked up from the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League also for future considerations. The 6’0’ 190lbs defenseman has two assists in three games played with Yorkton this season and is expected to be a mobile, puck moving defenseman. Webb hails from Cranbrook, B.C.
Forwards Rowan Versavel and Nick Lamoureux, along with defensemen Nate Engert and Tim Cavar are still out of the line-up due to injury.
The entire Flyers organization would like to welcome Ryan, Brett and Patrick to the Flyers Family.
