WINKLER'S WINNING STREAK STOPS AT FIVE AS JANUARY COMES TO AN END - JANUARY 31

The Flyers winning streak was stopped at five games after a 4-1 loss to the visiting Winnipeg Saints on Tuesday. Winkler lost the special teams battle, allowing two power-play goals against and going 0-for-5 on the power-play themselves.

FLYERS SHOW PERSERVERANCE IN SHOOT-OUT WIN OVER SWAN VALLEY - JANUARY 29TH

The Winkler Flyers increased their winning streak to five games with a 5-4 shoot-out win over the visiting Swan Valley Stampeders on Sunday afternoon. Sam Waterfield scored the lone goal for the Flyers in the shoot-out while Ryan Bembridge stopped all three Stampeder shooters to help Winkler win their 32nd game of the year.

FLYERS WIN FOURTH IN A ROW WITH COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY IN STEINBACH - JANUARY 28

The Orange and Black were great and the beginning and great at the end in a 5-3 win over the Steinbach Pistons in their final visit of the year to the TG Smith Centre. The Flyers 31st win of the year increased their winning streak to four games, something they hadn’t done since October.

Flyers goaltender Ryan Bembridge made 37 saves against his former team as the Winkler Flyers beat the visiting Dauphin Kings 5-2 on Tuesday night. Bembridge’s first win as a Flyer gave his club their third win in a row and gave them a 4-1 edge in the season series.

FLYERS GET PAST STEELERS TO EARN THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT VICTORY - JANUARY 22

The line of Anthony Nobili, Jordan Neduzak and Daniel Fainman accounted for seven points as the Winkler Flyers beat the visiting Selkirk Steelers 5-4 on Sunday night. It was the Flyers second win in a row and the two points moves them back into a third place tie with the Steelers.

FLYERS WIN IN DRAMATIC FASHION WITH LATE COMEBACK AGAINST BLUES - JANUARY 20

Chapen Leblond's team leading 26th goal of the season, 54 seconds into overtime gave the Winkler Flyers a 4-3 win over the Winnipeg Blues on Friday night. Trailing 3-2 in the final minute of regulation, Jordan Neduzak tied the game at three with just 41 seconds left in regulation to make overtime possible.

GREATEST FLYERS TEAM EVER WILL MAKE UP 2012 FLYERS HALL OF FAME CLASS - JANUARY 20

The Winkler Flyers have announced the ’91-'92 Flyers team will make up the 2012 class of the Winkler Flyers Hall of Fame. Arguably one of the greatest teams to ever hit the ice in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, the ’91-’92 Winkler Flyers steamrolled their way to the Centennial Cup final after winning the MJHL Championship and Anavet Cup in ’91-‘92.

The Winkler Flyers played good enough to win in a 5-2 loss in Selkirk on Tuesday night. Outshooting the Steelers 47-36 in the game, the Orange and Black suffered from a spell of bad luck as they slipped into a tie for third place in the division with Selkirk.

The visiting OCN Blizzard scored three times in a span of five minutes and 24 seconds in the third period and held on for a 4-3 win over the Winkler Flyers on Sunday night. Leading 2-1 through two periods, the Flyers could not hold on to their lead down the stretch and despite a furious comeback attempt in the final minutes, the Orange and Black failed to win their third in a row.

Captain Chapen Leblond scored a goal and added four assists as the Winkler Flyers beat the visiting Neepawa Natives 6-2 on Saturday night. Playing in front of family and friends, the Orange and Black dominated the Natives and moved into a tie for second place in the division with the win.

FLYERS ADD GRIT AS MJHL TRADING DEADLINE COMES AND GOES - JANUARY 10

The Winkler Flyers added some grit and toughness at the MJHL trading deadline acquiring forward Jesse Enns (91) from the Dauphin Kings for future considerations. In a separate move, the team also moved forward Brock Vanderveen (92) to the Winnipeg Blues in exchange for the list rights to 15 year old defenseman Connor Hamonic.

WINKLER ADDS DEPTH TO THE BLUELINE WITH ACQUISTION OF DANE OLSEN - JANUARY 9

The Winkler Flyers have added some depth to their blueline as the MJHL trading deadline approaches. Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson has announced the acquisition of 20 year old defenseman Dane Olsen in exchange for the list rights to 16 year old defenseman Ty Webber currently of the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The Winkler Flyers suffered their second straight loss of 2012 falling 5-0 in Portage on Thursday night. Terriers netminder Shea Cooper stopped all 24 shots he faced against a Flyer club that lacked the effort needed to get the job done against the defending league champions.

The Selkirk Steelers good fortunes against the Winkler Flyers continued on Tuesday night in a 7-3 win over their division rivals. Playing their first game of 2012, the Flyers spotted the Steelers a 5-0 advantage through 40 minutes which was a hole the Flyers could not quite dig out of.
