FLYER GREAT ED BELFOUR GETS THE CALL TO THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME - JUNE 29

Carman native and former Winkler Flyer goaltender Ed Belfour is headed to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Belfour began his NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks where he won the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie. He played for five NHL teams (Chicago, Dallas, Toronto, Florida and San Jose) from 1988 to 2007 and completed his playing career with the Leksand Stars in the Swedish professional league.

FLYERS TO HOST STEINBACH TO OPEN 2011/2012 SEASON AS MJHL RELEASES SCHEDULE - JUNE 23

The Winkler Flyers will host the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday, September 17th to begin their 2011-12 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season. The MJHL released their schedule on Thursday which will see the defending Addison Division regular season champions play three of the first five games at home.

FLYERS SHUFFLE FRONT OFFICE AND GIVE MARKS TITLE OF GENERAL MANAGER - JUNE 3

Three weeks after signing a two year extension with the hockey club, Head Coach John Marks has also been given the title of General Manger. The Winkler Flyers shuffled their front office this week appointing former General Manager Henry Siemens to the newly created position of Vice President of Operations.
