The Winkler Flyers have signed 6’2”, 205lbs defenseman, Max Daerendinger (98) for the upcoming season. The Vancouver native spent last season with Campbell River (VIJHL), where he helped the Storm capture the 2016-2017 league championship.
“Max is a good two-way defenseman with a good shot from the point,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.
“He can jump up in the play and is also responsible defensively. He also has that championship pedigree after winning the league with Campbell River last year,” added Pearson.
In 41 regular season games played with the Storm last season, the 19 year old recorded 22 points (12 goals – 10 assists) and 38 penalty minutes. He had 8 points in 14 playoff games during Campbell River’s championship run. He also spent some time with the Victoria Grizzlies (BCHL) last season, recording one assist.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to come and play for such a great organization that I’ve heard only good things about,” said Daerendinger.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity that Head Coach Ken Pearson has given me and I’m really looking forward to getting the season started.”
The Flyers would like to welcome Max and his family to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing him on the ice this fall.
