FLYERS ADD EXPERIENCE ON THE BLUELINE WITH TRADE FOR LESTER – JULY 17

The Winkler Flyers have added veteran Defenseman Oliver Lester (97) in an off-season trade with the Hawkesbury Hawks (CCHL).

“Lester is an experienced defenseman that can quarter-back a power-play. He’s a good puck mover that will create competition and depth amongst the defensemen we currently have,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

Lester is a 6’0”, 185lbs blue liner from Calgary, Alberta and played in 41 regular season games with Hawkesbury last season, accounting for 14 points (5 Goals – 9 Assists). He started last season with the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League. The left handed shooting defenseman also spent time with the Brooks Bandits (AJHL), Calgary Mustangs (AJHL) and Dauphin Kings (MJHL) over the past three years.

The Flyers sent Future Considerations to the Hawks as part of the trade.

The Flyers would like to welcome Oliver and his family to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing him in an Orange and Black uniform this season.
