FLYERS ADD SKILLED DEFENSEMAN WITH BURGIN SIGNING – JUNE 6

The Winkler Flyers have signed 17 year old Defenseman Drake Burgin (00) for the 2018-2019 season. Burgin is a smooth skating, smart defender who will increase the skill level of the Flyers blueline.

Burgin played last season with the Winnipeg Wild in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League, capturing the league title. The 6’0”, 165lbs defenseman recorded 18 points (4 Goals – 14 Assists) in 44 regular season games this past year. During the 2017-2018 Manitoba Junior Hockey League pre-season, Burgin showed very well in a Flyers’ uniform scoring two goals in the club’s first exhibition game of the season.

“After a strong pre-season with us last year and having spent time developing his game with coach Paul Kruger, we are very happy to have Drake become a member of the Winkler Flyers,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

“His ability to move pucks and defend, along with having won a championship in AAA Midget will help make him successful”

The Flyers would like to officially welcome Drake and his family to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing him in an Orange and Black uniform this fall.
