FLYERS ADD TIBBATTS AND KORYTKO IN WEEKEND DEALS – SEPTEMBER 23

The Winkler Flyers added two new players in a pair of weekend trades, acquiring forward Jacob Tibbatts (99) from the La Ronge Ice Wolves (SJHL) in exchange for defenseman Matt Krawiec (98), and also adding forward Jesse Korytko (98) from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for prospect Cody Shearer (01).

After starting the regular season with a pair of victories, Winkler Flyers General Manager Ken Pearson added two players with great work ethic, size and experience to go along with the Flyers’ young and talented forward group.

Tibbatts is a 6’1”, 203lbs forward from Foxwarren, Manitoba who played two games with the SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs this season before coming to Winkler as part of a three way trade with La Ronge. Going the other way in the trade is 20 year old defenseman Matt Krawiec who recorded six points in 50 total games in a Flyers’ uniform.

“Jacob is someone we have had our eye on for a while. He has a scoring touch and at 6’1” he adds size to our forward group along with a strong work ethic,” said Flyers General Manager Ken Pearson.

The second move of the day saw 20 year old forward Jesse Korytko join the fold. The 6’2”, 190lbs winger from Strasbourg, Saskatchewan has 30 points (17 Goals – 13 Assists) in 88 total games in the MJHL split between Waywayseecappo and Virden.

“Jesse will add size, experience and a scoring touch to our right side which throughout preseason and early on in the regular season has been lacking. He will be one of our hardest working forwards night in and night out,” added Pearson.

The Flyers will return to the ice on Thursday, September 27th when they face the Winnipeg Blues at Bell/MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.

The Flyers would like to officially welcome Jacob, Jesse and their families to the Flyers organization and would like to thank Matt and Cody for their contributions and wish them nothing but the best with their new organizations.
