Flyers Announce Joe Ftoma As Director of Player Personnel, Dudar Takes Position With Wheat Kings

The Winkler Flyers are excited to announce Joe Ftoma as Director of Player Personnel. Hailing from Winnipeg, Joe provides over 10 years of experience in development, mentorship, high level training and the promotion of athletes through many Hockey Canada Skills and Hockey Manitoba programs.

“First off, we want to congratulate Riley on his next opportunity with the Brandon Wheat Kings. We want to thank him for the hard work and commitment to the Flyers over the last couple years. Helping build our first ever Pre Draft Development Camp, and working together for our first MJHL draft, our Hockey Ops staff have had many great experiences together. We look forward to continuing our hockey relationship and friendship over the years.” GM and Head Coach Justin Falk spoke on former Director of Player Personnel Riley Dudar.

Justin and his team are thrilled to have Joe become the Director of Player Personnel “We want to congratulate Joe Ftoma with this opportunity to lead our Scouting Team. Joe has worked tirelessly behind the scenes over the last couple seasons, taken different courses to educate and prepare himself so that he is ready to step in and take over seamlessly. Him along with our entire scouting staff have done a tremendous job throughout the season thus far. We are excited about the Spring Pre Draft Development Camp and working with the 2007 prospects as we prepare for the upcoming MJHL Draft.”

Joe graduated from Morrisville State and went on to play a season in Sweden (Div 2) as well as played FHL and SPHL. After Morrisville he continued with the game to build his knowledge and contacts. Joe has been a scout for the Flyers since 2021 and has been the Director of Player Personal for Evolution Hockey for the last two years. With Evolution he focused on their mentorship program where they manage elite hockey players, primarily focusing on development and pathways. He is also a scout for the Chicago Steel of the USHL.

“I am really looking forward to this opportunity with the Flyers organization. I’m excited to be joining a staff filled with good people who care about long term development of athletes and humans. I would like to thank the Flyers organization, Justin Falk and Riley Dudar for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started” Joe explained why he’s excited about his new role.

Joe’s duties will consist of leading a scouting team in the drafting and recruitment of future Winkler Flyers players as well as the overall enhancement of the Flyers 50-man list.

We’re excited to see what you can do in your new role Joe!
