FLYERS BRING IN TOOKENAY FROM DAUPHIN – OCTOBER 22

The Winkler Flyers have made a trade with the Dauphin Kings, acquiring 19 year old forward Ian Tookenay (00) in exchange for the rights to forwards Mitchell Thiessen (02) and Tate Popple (00).

Tookenay is in his third full season of Junior Hockey and stands 6’0” and weighs 170lbs. The Fort Francis, Ontario native has a total of 110 regular season games of Junior experience and has 52 points (16 Goals – 36 Assists) over the past two plus seasons with the Dauphin Kings (MJHL) and Fort Francis Lakers (SIJHL).

“Ian brings some more speed and skill to our forward group,” said Flyers General Manager Jeff Jeanson.

“He has two seasons of Junior A hockey already under his belt and will bring that experience to our hockey club,” added Jeanson.

Thiessen (02) began the 2019-2020 season with the Flyers before returning to the Brandon AAA Wheat Kings in September. Popple (00) was a draft pick of the Flyers in the 2015 MJHL Bantam Draft and is currently playing for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League.

The Flyers would like to welcome Ian and his family to the Flyers organization and would like to wish Mitchell and Tate all the best in the future.
