The Winkler Flyers are excited to announce the commitment of defenceman, Isaiah Peters, to the University of Toronto (USports) men’s hockey program.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first came to Winkler, but right away I knew it was a really special place. The community treated me like their own and I’m so grateful for that. It was very prevalent how much the coaching staff cared about their players. I could also feel how much my teammates cared about me as well. Everyone in the organization was super influential in my life and I will never forget them.” Peters spoke about his time with the Flyers.
“We’re thrilled for Isaiah as he takes the next step in his career with the University of Toronto. He’s an elite thinker on the ice with exceptional vision, a high-end passer who makes everyone around him better. He’s a threat offensively with and without the puck—able to jump into space, create chances, and drive offence from the back end. Defensively, he’s poised under pressure, makes an elite first pass, and uses his feet to kill plays or skate pucks out of trouble. He plays in all situations, blocks shots, and knows what it takes to win at a championship-level. U of T is getting a strong leader, a great teammate, and an even better person.” said General Manager and Head Coach Matt Melo.
