The Winkler Flyers are proud to announce the commitment of forward Zach Nicolas to the NCAA Division 1 Stonehill College Skyhawks hockey program.
Nicolas has put up 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points in 51 games so far with your Winkler Flyers. In his two years with the Flyers he has put up 89 points in 108 games played. Nicolas is a big body that knows how to use it and has great vision of the ice in order to make plays for his teammates.
Nicolas talked about what lead him to Stonehill “The opportunity for development to grow my game to the next level, along with their coaching staff lead me to Stonehill. I was also very impressed by their education and campus”
“Zach has seen tremendous growth as a player in his two years in Winkler. Ensuring he put himself in the right place for his development both on and off the ice, Zach is prepared to be a strong impact player at the next level while also putting himself in a great position to further his education. Congratulations to Zach and his family!” GM & Head Coach Justin Falk and the coaching staff are thrilled for Nicolas.
“It taught me to focus on the things I can control, and not the things that I can’t. Allowing me to put my full trust in God. This helped me grow my faith in Him which I give all credit to for my accomplishments.” Nicolas explained what being a Winkler Flyer did to help him achieve a D1 commitment “The teams willingness to work harder than any other team, along with the coaching staff and the great support from our community and fans.”
We’re proud of the effort you have put into hockey Zach, and we are so excited for you and your family as you take the next step in your hockey career!
