FLYERS SIGN THREE PLAYERS FOR NEXT SEASON – JUNE 8

The Winkler Flyers are pleased to announce the signing of Drew Van Den Bosch, Justin Paulson, and Will Blake for the 2016-2017 season. Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson has begun the process of building a team ready to compete for the MJHL Championship next season.

Van Den Bosch (98) is a 6’0”, 175lbs defenseman from Calgary, Alberta who had four points (2 Goals – 2 Assists) in 26 games played with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy last season. He is a smart, all around defenseman who handles the puck well and makes a good first pass out of the zone.

“I’m excited to have signed with the Flyers. The Flyers continue to progress each year and I want to be an important contributor to their continuing progression. My dad great up in the Manitou area and I have a lot of extended family in the Swan Lake, Bruxelles and Winnipeg areas that I’d really enjoy playing in front of” said Drew Van Den Bosch.

Paulson (97) is a 5’11”, 170lbs defenseman from Princeton, Minnesota. He played in 25 games with the Breck Mustangs (Minnesota High School Hockey), scoring three goals and adding 17 assists for 30 points. Paulson is a responsible defender and was the captain of the Mustangs last season.

“I’m glad I had the chance to sign with Winkler, and I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at camp and try and play there” said Justin Paulson.

Blake (97) also went to Breck High School last season and hails from Champlin, Minnesota. The 5’11”, 175lbs forward played on the Mustangs’ top line. He recorded 47 points (17 Goals – 30 assists) in 25 games played and is a smooth skating, play making centre. Both Blake and Paulson were named to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament All-Star Team.

“I am excited about signing with the Flyers and look forward to getting up there for training camp and having a great season. I’m looking forward to playing for Coach Pearson and for the Winkler Flyers organization” said Will Blake.

The Flyers would like to welcome Drew, Justin, Will and their families to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing them in Orange and Black in the fall.
