The Winkler Flyers are excited to announce that the club has signed forward Tristan Weill(2004) from West Kelowna, BC.
Weill spent the 2021-22 season with the Summerland Steam of the KIJHL where he scored 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points in 42 games played. This put Weill fourth in KIJHL league scoring despite being 17 years old. He also tore up playoffs with 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 11 games played. The Flyers are excited to have a player with such a great scoring touch join the organization.
“I was pretty excited to join the Flyers, seeing as they have a huge squad of NHL’ers with the development staff, I think it’ll be a great place to play” Weill said when asked how he felt to sign a letter of intent
GM and Head Coach Justin Falk is excited to have Weill join the Orange and Black. “”Tristan carries a high level of skill with exceptional vision and that showed with the offensive production he had last season. Being able to utilize Tristan in different areas of our lineup and situational play will be exciting for our group. We look forward to the growth of Tristan’s game and it’s transition to junior hockey in Winkler.”
Weill explained why he chose the Flyers “I chose the Flyers because I’ve heard great things about the community, also I’ve heard they have the best fans in the league, so I’m pretty excited about that”
“I’m a skilled, gritty forward who can also find teammates and have a good scoring touch” Weill told us about what kind of player he is, and what he can bring to the team “I hope to put the puck in the net, generating points and add some gritt to help the team win games”
The Winkler Flyers want to welcome Tristan and his family to the organization.
Weill had this message for Flyers fans “I’ll see you guys for the first game of the year.”
