Flyers Sign Truman Wurst To LOI

The Winkler Flyers are delighted to announce that the organization has signed Truman Wurst (’05) to a letter of intent to play with the Orange and Black in 2023-24.

Wurst hails from Thornton, Colorado, USA and plays for the Colorado Rampage in 18U AAA T1EHL. In 35 games played he has 5 goals and 8 assists for 13 points.

We asked Wurst to tell us about himself “I’m a Colorado Native while my dad is from Minnesota and my mom is from a small town in Illinois. I’m the only one in my family that has played hockey competitively! I like to watch shows and hang out with friends.”

“It feels great signing the letter of intent to Winkler. I can’t wait to go see the rink and meet the players and coaches! I decided to sign the letter because it’s an older league and I know I can develop when I go play there next year.” Wurst explained how it feels, and why he signed with the Flyers.

Flyers Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach Coltyn Bates and staff could not be happier with the signing “After the last few months of watching Truman and getting to know his family we’re thrilled to have them join our organization. Truman is a player who plays a good two way game and takes a lot of pride in his game. Truman has had the opportunity to play under a coaching staff that’s had professional experience this season. We have liked how he’s progressed and believe this will make his transition to Junior hockey even smoother. With Truman’s character and work ethic he excites our staff to work with and develop over the next few seasons. This is another exciting day for our organization and we’re thrilled to have Truman and his family apart of our program and to the City of Winkler!”

What kind of player is Wurst, and what does he hope to bring to the Orange and Black? “As a player I see myself as a two-way defenseman. I hope to help Winkler have a very successful season through my defensive and offensive play!”

The Winkler Flyers want to send a warm welcome to Truman and the Wurst family to Winkler, and the Flyers Organization!
