MARTYNIUK AND DYCK NOMINATED FOR MJHL AWARDS – FEBRUARY 21

Flyers’ Goaltender Troy Martyniuk and Defenseman Mitch Dyck have been recognized for their outstanding seasons by being nominated for three Manitoba Junior Hockey League Awards. Martyniuk has been nominated for both the MVP Award as well as the Top Goaltender Award, while Dyck is one of the three finalists for the Top Defenseman Award.

Entering play on Wednesday, Martyniuk leads all MJHL goaltenders with wins (26) and minutes played (2613). The 20 year old Winnipeg native has been the back bone of the Flyers all season, helping guide the club to their 37th straight playoff appearance.

Dyck leads all Flyers’ defensemen with 39 points in 53 games in his third season on the Winkler blueline. The third year Flyer plays in all situations and logs a lot of important minutes and is regarded as one of the best defenseman in the MJHL.

The Winkler Flyers would like to congratulate Troy and Mitch on their well deserved nominations.

“Each team submitted a nominee for the awards and the league’s 11 coaches subsequently conducted a vote,” explained MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis. “Each of the nominees should be very proud of their accomplishment.”
