OPPERMAN JOINS LEADERSHIP TEAM AS ASSISTANT CAPTAIN – JULY 17

Twenty year old forward Brett Opperman has also been selected as one of the Flyers’ Assistant Captains for the 2017-18 season. The Killarney native joins Nolan McGuire (Captain) and Will Blake (Assistant Captain) as the club’s leadership team that has been announced so far.

“Being recognized as a leader for such a classy organization is a big honor,” said Opperman.

“Winkler is a very professional organization with great fan support. It’s an unbelievable experience,” added Opperman.

Opperman joined the Flyers midway through the 2016-17 campaign and quickly took on a leadership roll, both on and off the ice. He recorded 13 points (4 Goals – 9 Assists) in 39 regular season games and wracked up 91 penalty minutes.

“Brett is the ultimate team guy,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

“He’s loved in the room and on the ice by his teammates, and he’s a player that other teams don’t like to play against. His work ethic is what he is best known for and that rubs off on others,” added Pearson.

The Flyers congratulate Brett on this honor and look forward to seeing an “A” on his jersey this fall.
