ORANGE AND BLACK ADD TWO MORE MANITOBA FORWARDS TO ROSTER

The influx of young, top end talent continues for the Winkler Flyers with the signing of forwards Robert Hechler (97) and Braden Billaney (98). Both players from Southwestern Manitoba were key contributors on their AAA teams last season and will add to the solid forward depth of the Flyers.

Robert Hechler (97) was third in team scoring with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League in 2014-15 with 44 points (21 goals – 23 assists) in 41 regular season games. The 17 year old Brandon native also recorded 17 points (6 goals – 11 assists) in 14 playoff games to help the Wheat Kings make it all the way to the league final. The 6’1”, 170lbs winger was the Flyers fifth round selection in the 2012 MJHL Bantam Draft and is an all around skilled, physical winger with a good shot. Hechler did AP with the Flyers for one game this past season.

Braden Billaney (98) spent the past two seasons with the Southwest Cougars of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. The Boissevain product played 30 regular season games with the Cougars in 2014-15, recording 20 points (14 goals – 6 assists) and 86 penalty minutes. The 16 year old suited up with the Flyers for three games as an AP, chipping in with one goal. The 5’10”, 170lbs winger was a second round pick of the Flyers in the 2013 MJHL Bantam Draft and is a gritty, hard working forward who plays on the edge.

The Flyers would like to welcome Braden, Robert and their families to the organization and look forward to seeing them in Orange and Black uniforms in the fall.
