Returning forward Will Blake (97) will serve as one of the clubs’ Assistant Captains during the upcoming season. The Champlin, Minnesota native recorded 38 points (13 goals – 25 assists) in 59 regular season games played for the Flyers last season.
“I’m excited and honored to be named an Assistant Captain in Winkler,” said Blake.
“It will be tough to fill the shoes of the older guys who led us last year. I enjoyed my first year living in Manitoba, and the great fans and atmosphere we have at home games. I can’t wait to get back for training camp and get ready for a big season ahead,” concluded Blake.
The 2016-2017 season was Blake’s first year in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, coming to Winkler from Breck High School in Minnesota.
“He was chosen because of the respect he has in the room and on the ice,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.
“The leadership he also shows off the ice and in the community is a great attribute of his. He’s a solid two-way player that many of our guys can look up to and learn from.”

The Flyers organization would like to congratulate Will on this honor and look forward to seeing him wear the “A” this fall.
