WINKLER BRINGS BACK CATTANI IN TRADE WITH DAUPHIN – JULY 19

The Winkler Flyers have completed their second trade of the week, acquiring 18 year old forward Alex Cattani (01) in exchange for 18 year old defenseman Rylan Thiessen (01). Cattani was originally drafted by the Flyers in 2016 (Round Two – 20th Overall) but was sent to the Kings in a 2017 trade which saw the Orange and Black acquire forward Jayden McCarthy (01).

Cattani (01) is a 6’0”, 195lbs power forward with great hands and recorded 47 points (20 Goals – 27 Assists) in 43 games with the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League’s Central Plains Capitals last season. The Winnipeg native is over a point per game player in his two seasons with the Capitals and served as the Team Captain in Central Plains.

“Alex is a hard worker with good character and is a very good teammate. We are very excited to be able to bring him back to the Flyers organization,” said Flyers General Manager Jeff Jeanson.

Going back to the Kings is 18 year old defenseman Rylan Thiessen (01). Thiessen played this past season with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League and played a number of games with the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) as well.

Earlier in the week, the Flyers acquired 20 year old forward Jaden Townsend (99) in a trade with the AJHL’s Lloydminster Bobcats.

The Flyers are thrilled to welcome Alex back to the organization and wish Rylan all the best in the future.
