Winkler Flyers at Steinbach Pistons – January 27th 2026

The Winkler Flyers were back in Steinbach Tuesday night to take on the Pistons, looking to find the win column against the second place team in the MGEU Eastern Conference.

The Flyers outshot the Pistons 13-6 in the first frame but couldn’t solve net minder Chris Quizi. Steinbach forward Jack Greenwell managed to open un the scoring in the first period giving the Pistons a 1-0 advantage after 20 minutes.

The Flyers outshot the Pistons again in the second period but had a hard time converting their chances into goals. Eventually, Niklas Gudmundson tied things up at 1 goal a piece with his 24th goal of the year on a net front scramble. Winkler couldn’t hold onto the lead however, trailing 2-1 after 2 periods.

The Flyers pushed hard in the third period but just were not able to even things up, and the Pistons eventually found their way to a 3-1 victory, scoring an empty net goal with just over a minute left in regulation and sealing the fate of the Flyers.
