Winkler Flyers vs. Niverville Nighthawks October 5th

The Winkler Flyers hosted the Niverville Nighthawks in the 2nd home game of the season on Sunday October 5th.

In a thrilling matchup, the Flyers faced a tough Niverville team. With a busy week, that saw the Flyers add 3 new defenceman, 2 of which making their home debut in Kaeson Fisher, and Graeme Pickering. Both being reassigned from their respective WHL teams.

 

The Flyers opened the scoring with Will Lyons burying his first of the season on the power play. Connor Rieger turned in a standout performance, striking twice and adding an assist to lead the charge. Liam Carlone evened the score midway through the third on an outstanding effort, forcing the game into a tense overtime. The Flyers opened the extra frame shorthanded but stood tall to kill off the penalty. Both sides traded quality chances in overtime, but Niverville struck midway through to seal a thrilling contest from start to finish.

 

Connor Reiger earned the JR Bearing Player of the Game with his 2 goal, 1 assist performance.
