The Flyers were back in action at home vs. the Norman Blizzard Saturday night.

After dropping a 2-0 decision to the Steinbach Pistons on Friday evening, the Flyers looked to get back on track. The first period saw both teams battling hard but ultimately coming up empty in the goal column. Winkler managed to fire 20 shots at Blizzard goaltender Nick Kunyk, but couldn’t find the back of the net during the 1st period.
Liam Caroline opened up the scoring in the second 2:48 into the frame. Kam Thomas followed up after a nice individual effort, ripping a shot up high and popping the water bottle. The Blizzard cut the lead in half merely 10 seconds later but that would be the last time they found the scoresheet as the Flyers never looked back. The Flyers PP went to work when they found themselves at a 5 on 3 advantage. Tanner George scored his first of 2 goals on the night, while Rhylan Baxter kept his hot hand, burying his 12th goal of the season. Ethan McTavish completed the 5 goal 2nd with an even strength marker at 11:32. Flyers lead was 5-1 after 40 minutes.
The 3rd period saw Tanner George scoring his second of the game just over 5 minutes into the final 20 minutes. Connor Vandal literally threw the monkey off his back with a nice finish on a play that saw Will Lyons take a hit to complete a dandy pass. With just under 5 minutes left to play, Lyons blasted a one timer into the net for his 10th on the year, capping off an 8-1 victory at home.

Notes: Rhylan Baxter finished with 4 points (1G, 3A), Kam Thomas 3 points (1G, 2A), Liam Russell got the win with 10 saves on 11 shots.

Next up, the Flyers head back to Steinbach for a road game on Tuesday.
