Winkler Flyers vs. Steinbach Pistons March 6th

The Flyers hosted the Steinbach Pistons as the community was welcomed into the New Centennial Arena for the first time. A full house was treated to terrific sight lines and a great environment to enjoy watching hockey as the Flyers hoped to provide entertainment on the ice.

The first period was relatively back and forth until the Pistons capitalized on a net front scramble, scoring the first goal in the new rink and carried a 1-0 lead into the second period.

Winkler was ready to go in the second and got onto the scoreboard almost immediately as Will Lyons scored his 18th goal of the year only 25 seconds in. The Flyers capitalized on the momentum and scored shortly afterwards (1:56) after Riley Fequet made a nice play along the wall to set up Trevor Dalton for a 2-1 lead. Steinbach managed to tie things up at 2 as both teams played a physical and high paced game.

Entering the 3rd, Winkler hoped to get the home fans out of their seats as they were presented with a number of power play opportunities, but ultimately came up empty. Steinbach grabbed the lead near the midway point of the period and capped things off with an empty net goal to seal the victory at 4-2.

The Flyers have a. Quick turnaround as the Nighthawks are in town tonight for some Saturday night hockey (7:30 PM).
