The Winkler Flyers opened the season hosting the Steinbach Pistons Friday night at the Meridian Exhibition Centre in game 1 of the Knack Zoat Cup sponsored by Little Morden Service!

The Flyers saw a few fresh faces in the lineup, excited to play their first game in a Flyers uniform.
Steinbach opened the scoring, potting two goals in the first period. The Flyers responded with an excellent second period, seeing Charlie Weaver bury his first as a Flyer, and veteran Niklas Gudmundson knotting it at 2’s midway through the period.
Steinbach managed to pull ahead with just over 6 minutes left in the third, netting an empty netter to close out the game.

Niklas Gudmundson earns the JR Bearing Player of the Game for the Flyers with a goal and an assist in the tilt!

Flyers travel to Steinbach on Sunday, September 21st for a rematch with the Pistons.
