The Winkler Flyers fell 4-3 in overtime to the Swan Valley Stampeders on Friday night, despite outshooting them 41-26. The Flyers came close but couldn’t hang on to their third period lead.
Will Lyons got Winkler on the board in the second period with a power-play goal, assisted by Brody Beauchemin and Liam Carlone. In the third, Nicholas McKee scored early to give the Flyers the lead, followed by a power-play goal from Kam Thomas just minutes later.
The Flyers kept pushing but couldn’t seal the win, with the Stampeders eventually forcing overtime and scoring the game winner in the extra frame.
The Flyers aim to bounce back tonight against the Steinbach Pistons.
