The Winkler Flyers controlled the game from start to finish on Sunday night, skating to a convincing 4-1 win. A fast start and balanced scoring lifted the Flyers to their 17th victory of the season.
Brady Craik wasted no time putting Winkler on the board, scoring just 1:24 into the first period off assists from Isaac Deveau and Jared Greiner. Midway through the frame, Brody Beauchemin capitalized on a power play, extending the Flyers’ lead to 2-0 with help from Craik and Liam Carlone.
In the second period, rookie Will Lyons added his fourth goal of the season at 6:20, finishing a setup from Beauchemin. Nicholas McKee rounded out the scoring with a goal in the final minute of the period, assisted by Charles-M Bernier and Mathys Blanchette.
Goaltender Rylan Benner turned aside 25 of 26 shots, providing a steady presence in net. The Flyers outshot their opponent 40-26 and improved to 17-6-2 on the season.
