Winkler Flyers vs. Winnipeg Blues February 22nd

The Winkler Flyers took on the Winnipeg Blues at home Sunday night for 1 of just 3 games left in the ICON arena this season.

Charles Bernier opened the scoring midway through the first period, scoring his 5th goal of the year. With two and a half minutes left in the first frame, the Blues managed to pot one past netminder Liam Russell, sending the game into intermission tied at one’s.

The 2nd period started with a powerplay goal coming from the Blues to set the game 2-1, but just over a minute later, Tanner George netted a powerplay goal of his own knotting the game back up at 2’s. Bernier scored his second of the game to cap off the period. At the second intermission the score being 3-2 for Winkler.

Third period saw the Flyers put the foot on the gas, scoring three straight goals (George, Rieger, Rieger) to put an end to the the Blues night 6-2.

The Flyers stay on a bit of a home stand to close out their time at the ICON arena this season, Tuesday night vs. Neepawa and Friday night vs. Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
