Winkler Flyers vs. Winnipeg Monarchs October 7th

On Tuesday, October 7th, the Winkler Flyers faced the newly rebranded Winnipeg Monarchs, formerly known as the Winnipeg Freeze, in an exciting matchup that saw the Flyers score seven goals in an offensive showing.

 

The Flyers opened the scoring with Niklas Gudmundson netting his fourth of the season. The Monarchs then tied it late in the first, sending the game into the intermission knotted at 1. The Flyers power play took over in the second, scoring three straight goals, including the first of the season for captain Kam Thomas. In the third, Connor Rieger scored his third goal in two games, and Will Lyons added a goal that will be on highlight reels the league over, making it 6-1. Gudmundson capped off the game with his third goal, finishing the night with five points.

 

Gudmundson earned himself the JR Bearing player of the game for his 5 point (G:3 A:2) night!
