FLYERS ADD DEFENSEMAN AUSTIN DOUGLAS FROM THE WHL

The Winkler Flyers have added some size and toughness to their blueline with the addition of D Austin Douglas (96). Douglas was a fourth round pick of the Flyers in the 2011 MJHL Bantam Draft and played last season in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Douglas is a 6’6”, 194lbs defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played 35 games in the Western Hockey League last season split between the Seattle Thunderbirds and the Kamloops Blazers. He had a goal and an assist to go along with 49 penalty minutes.

With the Central Plains Capitals of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League in 2012-2013, Douglas had 18 points (6 goals – 12 assists) as well as 116 penalty minutes.

“Austin is a big, stay at home defenseman who will add toughness to our blueline.” Said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

“He brings experience to the club as well, and we’re looking forward to seeing him on the ice.” added Pearson.

The Flyers would like to welcome Austin and his family to the Flyers organization.
