The Winkler Flyers came from behind to edge the Neepawa Titans 3-2 on Saturday night at the Winkler ICON Arena, adding another 2 points to their league leading 31-6-3 record.
The Flyers found themselves trailing early as Neepawa capitalized twice in the first period. Despite outshooting the Titans 14-4 in the opening frame, Winkler couldn’t find the back of the net.
Winkler continued to apply pressure in the second period, and they were finally rewarded when Nicholas McKee buried his 20th goal of the season at 17:45. Charles-M Bernier and Trevor Dalton picked up the assists, cutting the deficit to one heading into the final frame.
The Flyers’ persistence paid off in the third period when Brady Craik netted the equalizer at 11:26, assisted by Thomas and Beauchemin. With momentum on their side, Winkler pressed for the game-winner, which came with just 43 seconds left in regulation. Thomas, who had already registered an assist, stepped up with a clutch goal to complete the comeback.
With another come-from-behind win, the Flyers continue their strong season, demonstrating resilience as they prepare for their next home game against the Winnipeg Blues on February 4.
