The Winkler Flyers will face the OCN Blizzard in Round One of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League playoffs, beginning with Game One in OCN on Friday night presented by Quality Inn and CK’s Lounge. This will be the third straight season that the Flyers and Blizzard will meet in the MJHL playoffs.
With just two points separating the fourth place Blizzard (32-20-8) from the fifth place Flyers (35-25-0), this should prove to be a very even and exciting series. The Blizzard had the upper hand on the Flyers during the regular season, winning four of the six meetings. However, the Flyers did outshoot OCN in five of the six games.
Winkler finished the regular season winning three of their last four games, and seem to have some momentum entering the playoffs. The Flyers have made it to the league semi-final the past two seasons and lost in the second round of the playoffs to OCN last season, after beating the Blizzard in the MJHL quarter-final series the year before.
