PAIR OF THRASHERS SET TO SOAR WITH THE FLYERS – JUNE 15

The Winkler Flyers have added a pair of forwards from the Winnipeg Thrashers (Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League) with the signing of Trent Halfdanson and Carter Ives. Both players will add some size and depth to the Flyers forward unit as the club continues their busy off-season.

Trent Halfdanson (00) is a 6’2”, 160 lbs forward from Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 44 games played with the Thrashers last season, he had 44 points (23 goals – 21 assists) and 66 penalty minutes. Halfdanson played in one game for the Flyers this past season. Halfdanson was drafted by the Flyers in the 3rd Round of the 2015 MJHL Bantam Draft.

Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson says “Trent plays with an edge with good touch around the net. He’s not afraid to mix it up and played well with us in the game he was called up for last year. He also has the potential to be a very good power forward for us.”

“It is a huge honor to be part of the Winkler Flyers organization,” said Halfdanson.

“I am very excited to get to Winkler and start helping the Flyers continue their pursuit of a MJHL Championship,”

Carter Ives (99) is a 6’1”, 170 lbs forward from West St. Paul, Manitoba. He played 43 games with the Thrashers last season, wracking up 25 points (6 goals – 19 assists) and 78 penalty minutes.

“Carter is a gritty left winger that will provide good depth and character. He’s got some good size to him too,” said Pearson.

“Winkler is a great hockey organization and I am honored and proud to be a part of the team,” said Ives.

“I hope to further develop as a player and help the team have a great season and win a championship”

The Flyers would like to officially welcome Trent, Carter and their families to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing them on the ice when Main Camp opens on August 30th.
