FLYERS ANNOUNCE AUTO-PROTECTS AHEAD OF MJHL DRAFT – MAY 31

The Winkler Flyers have selected forwards Lucas Dyck and Dawson Friesen as their two auto-protects ahead of this Sunday’s Manitoba Junior Hockey League Bantam Draft. The Flyers will have six picks in this year’s draft, where all players born in 2001 will be eligible to be picked up by one of the 11 teams in the MJHL.

Every year, each team in the MJHL is able to add two Bantam players from their local minor hockey association before the draft begins. Dyck and Friesen both played for the Winkler Bantam AA team this past season.

“Lucas is centreman who can control the game in the offensive zone, while Dawson is a big winger who has good hockey sense and competes hard,” mentioned Winkler Bantam Coach Tyler Hildebrand.

The Flyers will have one pick in each of the six rounds of the draft, starting with the ninth overall selection. The draft will take place at the Selkirk Recreation Complex at 9am on Sunday, June 5th. The draft will be broadcast live on www.fasthockey.com.

You can also follow live on the Winkler Flyers Twitter Account (@winklerflyers), and on the Flyers Facebook page. A full draft recap will also be available following the draft at www.winklerflyers.com.

The Flyers would like to welcome Lucas, Dawson and their families to the Flyers organization.
