Waltz Commits’ To Concordia College

The Winkler Flyers are proud to announce the commitment of forward Gavin Waltz to the NCAA Division III Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) hockey program.

Waltz played with the Flyers for two years and amassed 17 goals and 32 assists for 49 points in 67 games played. He was a playoff performer, putting up 3 goals and 7 assists in 18 playoff games played for the Orange and Black. Waltz is a smart hockey player, who does the little things right.

Waltz explained why he chose Concordia “After visiting Concordia and talking with their coaching staff, professors, and other players on the team I knew right away this was the perfect fit for me. The school had everything I was looking for!”

“My time in Winkler was everything I could’ve asked for. I enjoyed coming to the rink and going to work with the boys everyday. I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to play for the Flyers!” Waltz talked about what his time in Winkler meant to him.

GM and Head Coach Justin Falk gave his thoughts on Waltz “When you think of one word to describe Waltzy it is habits.  The day in and day out in building the culture here in Winkler Gavin will leave a lasting impact on the program.  We are excited for his next opportunity as he furthers his education at Concordia and look forward to the many trips he will make back to Winkler over the years.”

“The coaching staff have been doing a phenomenal job. Not every Junior team can say they have a staff full of NHL, European, and NCAA Alums! Taking the time to work with the players on skills, picking our brains, and giving us little pointers everyday as well as the life lessons taught made myself and my teammates grow.” Waltz told us what the coaching staff have done for him in the last two years.

We’re proud of the effort you have put in Gavin, and we are so excited for you and your family as you take the next step in your hockey career!
