The Flyers rode into Friday night on a 4 game win streak, looking to carry on their good fortunes against a tough Virden Oil Caps squad on their own streak of 12 victories in a row.

The Flyers found themselves in tough as Virden pressured play in the Winkler zone early on, but it was Riley Fequet kicking things off with the opening goal, giving Winkler the lead 14:42 into the first. After 20 minutes of play, the Flyers went into the break ahead 1-0. Shots were 11-8 in favour of the visitors.
The second period featured more strong play by Virden as they made things difficult for the Flyers, eventually breaking through with the tying goal just 2:39 into the frame. Liam Ernst faced a number of good scoring chances and held the fort, seeing a total of 15 shots during the period. The teams skated into the intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
Virden looked to take hold of the game in the third, while the Flyers showed a ton of grit, battling throughout the frame. Once again, Charlie Weaver came though for Winkler, burying his 10th goal of the year and 4th goal in as many games. The lead was short lived however as Virden managed to break through on the power play, ending the Flyers immaculate run on the penalty kill over the last few weeks. The game was tied at 2 as both teams were hungry for 2 points heading into overtime.
The extra frame featured a special moment as Charlie Weaver broke towards the net and was taken down, providing a rare penalty shot in OT. Connor Rieger out dangled the Oilers Capitals goaltender and brought the home crowd to their feet with the game winner and a massive win.

Liam Ernst stopped 36 of 38 shots, and was a major part of the Flyers success on the evening.
