McGUIRE NAMED CAPTAIN OF THE ORANGE AND BLACK – JULY 4

The Winkler Flyers have selected Nolan McGuire (97) as their Team Captain for the 2017-2018 season. The Winkler native is entering his fourth season with the Orange and Black, and has proven to be an integral part of the team both on the ice, in the dressing room and in the community.

“He’s been with us now for a few years now and I love his competitiveness on the ice,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

“Nolan has a great grasp of th

e room and the guys really respect him. He’s also quite involved in the community which is also really important,” added Pearson.

In 134 regular season games played over the past three seasons, McGuire has 61 points (31 goals and 30 assists) to go along with 32 penalty minutes.

“It feels great to be recognized as a leader,” said McGuire.

“It’s very humbling to be able to be the Captain for such a great organization.”

The Flyers will be announcing the names of their Alternate Captains in the coming weeks. The Flyers would like to congratulate Nolan on this honor and look forward to seeing the “C” on his jersey this fall.
