Winkler Flyers acquire Defenseman Brandt Young from Blues

The Winkler Flyers have acquired ’03 Defenseman Brandt Young from the Winnipeg Blues in exchange for prospect forward Zachary Einarson (2006) and a player development fee.

Young scored 5 goals and 35 assists for 40 points in the 2022-23 season with the Blues, good for 10th among MJHL Defenseman. He has also spent time with the Winnipeg Ice (WHL).

General Manager and Head Coach Justin Falk and coaching staff are excited about the trade “Brandt will continue to shore up our blue line after graduating out 5 defensemen last season. He is a proven veteran in our league that can contribute offensively and we look forward to developing all aspects of his two way game under our system and structure.”

“It feels awesome, I’m super excited to get to Winkler and get to work with the guys!” Young talked about how he feels about being a part of the Flyers organization “I think what has me most excited is the group we have in place and the fans. I think we have a good shot at a championship this year with the group that’s there. I know playing in Winkler on the visiting team was always nuts with how passionate the fans are, so it’s awesome to be on the other side now”

Welcome to the Orange and Black Brandt and family!

The Flyers would also like to thank Zach for his time with the organization, and wish him the best in the future.
